International Mother Earth Day, celebrated every April 22nd, originated from a 2009 United Nations General Assembly resolution advocating for harmonious coexistence with nature and promoting global sustainable development. As part of Earth, we must reduce ecosystem pollution, and avoid greenhouse gas emissions that destabilize the climate, as these actions ultimately harm humanity itself, affecting food production and hindering sustainable development of both nature and the economy.
To create a better future for all, most countries have devised climate-related plans, aiming to limit global temperature rise to within 1.5 degrees Celsius, laying the groundwork for the sustainable development of future generations. Asia, among many other regions worldwide, has implemented measures to gradually phase out fossil fuels. Corporations also need to restore harmony with nature, cease air pollution, reduce carbon emissions, embrace sustainable production and consumption, create job opportunities, and alleviate poverty. Long-term benefits include protecting business interests and achieving corporate sustainability.
