At a recent Cabinet press conference, it was revealed that northern Taiwan faces a severe power shortage with a 20 billion kWh supply-demand gap, prompting the government to import power from central and southern regions. This shortage impacts various industries, including healthcare. In response to this crisis, AMPOWER has made significant strides in aiding Shin Kong Hospital with its energy challenges, making them the first hospital to pass the greenhouse gas inventory.
This is achieved through developing and implementing a Natural Gas Combined Heat and Power (CHP) system, which produces electricity and recovers the produced heat at the same time, significantly enhancing energy and cost efficiency while drastically reducing carbon emissions. The CHP System powers the hospital’s essential needs, and repurposes residual heat for AC, refrigeration, ward baths, and boiler steam.
Beyond cost and environmental benefits, the CHP system boosts the hospital’s energy resilience, ensuring a reliable supply for critical operations. With AMPOWER’s expertise and services, enterprises like Shin Kong Hospital will be better equipped to tackle current energy challenges and advance toward a more sustainable future.
